Description
Midland Center for the Arts, 1970
The crowning achievement of Alden B. Dow’s career … a place where science and art, facts and feelings, could work together – music, sound, light, dance, drama, art, sculpture, film, and history all interacting to stimulate in visitors their own creativity. – Alden B. Dow, MidWestern Modern
As Alden B. Dow explained, “The Center was conceived not only as a facility to enhance and encourage arts involvement in a basically scientific community long devoted to the intertwining of science and art, but to provide a setting in which the arts can grow and experiment without fear of failure, so detrimental to any creative impulse, and in a highly stimulating interpersonal environment similar to the atmosphere in scientific research laboratories.”
This poster was developed for the 10th Anniversary of the Center. 500 copies were numbered; Alden B. Dow personally signed each copy.
